We decided to tackle the Mereenie Loop track from Kings Canyon to Hermannsburg and can confirm that all went well. Dust got in the back hatch (even though we duct taped the joins) and wherever pipes enter the base of van, nothing some silicone can't fix if I can be bothered. We had planned to stay the night at a camp in Hermannsburg yet it didn't feel like the most hospitable community so we drove on. The idea was to drive down to Palm Valley the next day without the van and then come back and drag the van down, would have been ok, slow, but ok but we were running out of time. We ended up driving to Glen Helen Gorge where we spent the next few nights.
We visited Orminston Gorge where we went on the loop walk that allowed us to view the gorge from above then walk through the bottom of it. A nice spot and it was good to see a dingo come hunting the water edges as we came through.
Then we spent some time at the Ochre Pits where the red, yellow and white ochre was traditionally used by the aboriginals. There is an "up to $5000" fine for removing ochre rocks from this area, we probably left with $66.40 worth of fines on our faces.
Loving the photos and the stories. Have just watched the lot again (Mon 30th) with Bailey, and he's dying to give Cody a hug and looks forward to seeing her next update. Ri
